The Communication Turnaround Program
Know your communication strengths. Fix your gaps.
5 dimensions. 1 personalized plan.
Great communication at work isn't one skill. It's five:
Diagnose the Situation
- 1Hr live session
First, we define what "better" actually means for you.
- Maybe you want to sound more senior.
- Maybe you need to lead meetings more effectively.
- Maybe you want more trust from leadership.
- Maybe you need to become more persuasive.
We turn that vague problem into one concrete communication outcome.
Then we identify your communication pattern.
Through live scenarios, improvisation, and unexpected prompts, I observe how you naturally use the five dimensions, especially when you don't have time to prepare.
Build Your Plan
- Personally developed by Jonathan, for you
I go through the five dimensions one by one and assess where you are today relative to the level you need to reach your goal.
I identify:
- Your strengths — what to keep leaning into
- Your gaps — what's getting in your way
- Your priorities — what will make the biggest difference
Then I build your personalized Communication Improvement Plan.
It includes the specific skills to work on, resources to use, and exercises to practice between sessions.
You don't need to become a perfect communicator.
You need to become better at the things that matter for the situations you care about.
Practice
- Self-practice exercises. Our plan gives you a structured way to practice on your own, focused on the specific skills you need to improve.
- Four 30-minute sessions. We practice the situations that actually matter to you:
- The update to leadership.
- The meeting where you need to speak up.
- The presentation where you need to persuade.
- The 1:1 where you make important ask.
- Q&A support. Get direct feedback and answers to questions that come up as you put your plan into practice.
By the end of the program, you'll know:
- Your current level of communication.
- Your communication gaps.
- What you need to change.
- How to keep improving.
Your communication will finally match the level of your thinking.
People who were exactly where you are
Menghan had been doing tech lead work for a while without the tech lead title. She wanted her manager to promote her. But every time she practised that conversation, it sounded like she just wanted a promotion.
What we foundThe request was right. The way she explained it was wrong. Menghan had built it around what she would get, and asked that way, it always sounds like you only care about status.
What changedWe rebuilt it around the work. She is already doing the job. Not having the title is what costs her a voice in the room, and that is what stops her doing the job well. Same request, and now it isn't about her at all.
Penglu was told to speak up more in meetings, and a warning came with it: stay quiet, and people stop inviting you. Penglu had been forcing out at least one question a day and it still wasn't working, because by the time the thought was ready the room had already moved on.
What we foundPenglu was trying to be faster. That was never going to happen. Thinking in a second language really is slower, and Jonathan wasn't going to promise better English overnight. Nobody honest can.
What changedSo we moved the contribution to a time when the clock isn't running. Penglu goes through the meeting afterwards, then goes back to the people who matter with an understanding written down, instead of a question asked live.
Ten years on one team, and for months the analytical work had gone to everyone else with nobody willing to say why. Keyin kept asking coworkers for a way in, over and over, and it went nowhere every time.
What we foundWrong audience. Work gets handed down, not sideways. And Keyin wasn't being left out for being weak at the job, but for the opposite reason: Keyin was so good at the operational work that the team could not afford to move anyone else into it.
What changedKeyin started sending the manager a short weekly update, asking for nothing, just giving visibility. To an anxious manager a surprise destroys trust, and being kept in the loop quietly rebuilds it.
Sound as capable as you actually are.
The gap between how good you are and how good you sound is costing you.

Career Coach & Former Leader @ Shopify, Uber
"Storytelling was my edge. At 10, I won a nationally-televised English language competition and was interviewed by CBC as the youngest contestant. In high school, I went on to win national presentation championships twice.
In the workplace, telling stories for disruptors like Uber and Shopify, I learned that talent alone isnât enough. Visibility is built through communication. I grew into leadership by telling the right stories: for my company, for my team, and for myself.
Since 2017, Iâve coached Chinese professionals navigating Western workplaces, reaching over 200,000 followers along the way. My philosophy is simple: if you donât know how to tell your story, you wonât be seen; no matter how capable you are."
